Baby Sunbittern at The San Diego Zoo
April 17, 2009
Spring is in the air at the San Diego Zoo, and so is this baby Sunbittern. Well, at least he's trying...
Sunbitterns build open nests in trees, and lay two eggs with blotched markings. The young are precocial, meaning they are relatively active and mobile once hatched, but remain in the nest for several weeks.
