More closely related to mice than rats, Malagasy jumping rats are highly endangered on their native island of Madagascar. Unlike many of their rodent brethren, Malagasy jumping rats are not prolific breeders, giving birth to only one pup a year, making this new arrival at the Prospect Park Zoo very special.

Alright kitty fans, the Woodland Park Zoo has some brand new arrivals for you! These snow leopard cubs, born just three weeks ago, each weigh around four pounds and are doing great.

Zoo Basel's children's zoo welcomed eight miniature piglets this week or, as they call them, mini-schwein. While not exactly exotic, the tiny piglets are the size of small puppies and have proven to be an absolute delight for the Swiss children lucky enough to see them.
