Tampa, Fla. (Sept. 9, 2008) - The Florida Aquarium is proud to announce the arrival of five new Southern stingrays. One of the aquarium's original residents, Rosanne Barb, a 15-year-old Southern stingray located in the lower lobby touch tank gave birth to five pups early this morning, Tuesday, September 9.
Rosanne, who is four feet wide and more than 6 feet long, is one of the most popular animals at the aquarium. The lobby touch tank was built in partnership with the Tampa Bay Rays in conjunction with the touch tank installed beyond their center field wall two seasons ago.
The five pups are all healthy and doing well.
