Penguin Chicks Look Really Soft

Sea World San Diego hatched 30 penguin chicks in 2008 adding to the over 500 hatched at the Penguin Encounter over the last two decades. Here is their most recent arrival, a baby Gentoo penguin which emerged from its shell on Dec. 1st.

TLC with Brevard Zoo's Jaguar Cubs

Back in November, ZooBorns reported on the births of two loveable Jaguar cubs at the Brevard Zoo.  Now just three months old, the babies can be seen playing, cuddling, and nursing in their exhibit. These photos, taken on December 31 by Eric Hochstadt, show one of the cubs bonding with Mom and exploring a more vegetarian diet.

Portland's Pachyderm Baby is a Trunk Full of Fun

In October, we reported on Sumadra, the baby elephant born August 23rd at the Oregon Zoo. He has since grown into a mischievous young elephant, stirring up fun with his trunk. Thank you to Andrew Wallace for sharing these sneak peeks taken just two days ago.
